You'll work closely with the founding team to develop scalable systems that process, analyze, and deliver sports data to passionate fans across our platform.ResponsibilitiesDesigning, building, and maintaining high-performance backend services and APIs that support our mobile and web applicationsArchitecting and implementing low-latency pipelines to process eventsEnsuring system reliability, scalability, and security across all backend infrastructureOptimizing database performance and data storage solutionsEnsuring strong multi-layered test coverageCollaborating with frontend and mobile engineers to define and implement API contractsImplementing effective monitoring, logging, and alerting systemsContributing to technical architecture decisions and establishing best practicesParticipating in code reviews and mentoring junior team membersResearching and implementing new technologies that improve our platform's capabilitiesWorking with product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutionsContinuously improving our development processes and system performanceAbout youSolid grounding in backend software developmentStrong proficiency in a mainstream programming language such as TypeScript, Python, C#, Java, GoExtensive experience with a cloud provider such as AWS or GCPProven experience with both document-based and relational database management systemsYou see automated testing as an essential part of software engineeringExperience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservice architectures and containerization with DockerSolid understanding of performance optimization, caching strategies, and scaling techniquesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworksStrong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systemsExcellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearlyExperience working in agile environments and fast-paced startupsPassion for football is a plus but not required - your technical expertise comes firstThis is a full-time, hybrid role based in London.
