Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

Our client, an established leader in utilities and power distribution, is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join their dynamic team working on the National Grid and SSEN Transmission Substations. This permanent role is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with expertise in high voltage substation engineering, particularly in 400Kv+ environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department
Assist with temporary works design schemes
Maintain good working relations with client/designer/team, as well as our supply chain
Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques
Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for the construction of the works
Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided
Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and plant for use in the construction process
Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works
Keep a full and accurate daily site diary
Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP/Specification

Job Requirements:

Experience in site engineering, preferably in utilities, power distribution, or T & D sectors
Proficiency in high voltage substation projects, particularly 400Kv+
Knowledge of ITPs, RAMs & Temporary Works
Excellent understanding of civil engineering legislation as well as health & safety and environmental legislation
Confidence to discuss engineering issues with individuals across various levels and disciplines
Ability to produce, implement, and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures
