Job Description

My client is a successful and highly regarded residential civils and groundworks company, currently recruiting for a Senior Site Engineer, to be based across the Midlands. The Senior Site Engineer will lead engineering activities across residential civils and groundworks projects, ensuring technical accuracy, quality compliance, and efficient site delivery. This role oversees setting-out, site supervision, design coordination, and subcontractor management while supporting project managers in meeting programme, safety, and cost objectives.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSite Engineering & Technical Leadership\n\nLead and oversee setting-out activities for foundations, drainage, roads and infrastructure components for residential projects.\nInterpret engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring works comply with design, standards, and building regulations.\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and site teams.Quality Assurance & Compliance\n\nImplement and manage quality control procedures, including inspections, ITPs, as-built records, and test documentation.\nMonitor construction activities to ensure adherence to industry standards and company quality requirements.\nResolve engineering issues on-site and liaise with designers to address discrepancies.Site Coordination & Supervision\n\nCoordinate daily site activities with subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient delivery.\nAssist in planning work sequences and contribute to short-term and long-term programme development.\nEnsure accurate records of work progress, materials, equipment, and labour.Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management\n\nPromote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and company safety standards.\nConduct site inspections and risk assessments; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.Documentation & Reporting\n\nMaintain daily site diaries, survey logs, and engineering reports.\nPrepare and submit technical documentation including RFI's, method statements, and red-line drawings.\nSupport change management processes through accurate measurement, verification, and reporting of variations.

\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nExperience as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within residential civil engineering projects.\nStrong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structural elements, and infrastructure components.\nGeo-technical experience, an understanding of CBRs earthworks \nLeica GPS machine control experience and creating models and using the Conx system\nSkilled in interpreting drawings, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate site records.\nExcellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.\nStrong understanding of construction regulations, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
