A well‑established civil engineering contractor delivering highways and infrastructure projects across the UK. The business is currently expanding its presence in Scotland and is in the process of securing office space, offering flexibility in the interim with home‑based working.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering highways and civil engineering projects. This is a hybrid role, combining time working from home, on site, and from the office once established.

You will play a key role in managing project costs from early involvement through to final account, ensuring strong commercial performance and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation, review, and ongoing management of detailed cost estimates and budgets
End‑to‑end commercial management from enquiry through to final account settlement
Production and presentation of accurate monthly CVRs to senior management
Implementation of effective cost control and value‑engineering measures
Management of contract documentation including bills of quantities and scopes of work
Review and negotiation of contract terms to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
Management of applications for payment and responses to support cash flow forecasts
Professional and timely response to client and stakeholder queries
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
Mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate Quantity Surveyors
Contributing to a collaborative, high‑performing commercial team environmentAbout You

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or a related discipline)
Proven experience within civil engineering / highways infrastructure
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and commercial processes
Sound working knowledge of NEC contracts
Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant QS / commercial software
