Rate: £480 – £525 per day (Ltd / CIS)

About the Company

Our client is a respected civil engineering main contractor with a strong portfolio of infrastructure and general civils projects across the South West. Known for delivering technically challenging schemes to the highest standards, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a long-term freelance basis.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take a leading commercial role across a range of live civil engineering projects, including infrastructure works, drainage schemes, reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and general civils works.

You’ll work closely with project delivery teams to ensure robust cost control, accurate reporting, and strong commercial governance throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
Hybrid working is available, with a balance between site visits, office collaboration, and remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee all commercial and contractual aspects of civil engineering projects

* Manage valuations, variations, cost forecasting, and subcontractor accounts

* Ensure accurate financial reporting and budget control

* Lead and mentor junior commercial staff where applicable

* Liaise with project teams, clients, and supply chain to ensure commercial objectives are met

* Provide strategic advice on cost management and value engineering

About You

* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering

* Strong knowledge of infrastructure, drainage, RC structures, and general civils

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams

* Solid understanding of NEC contracts

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills

* Comfortable working flexibly in a hybrid environment

* Available for an ongoing freelance engagement
