Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Chippenham (3 days on-site, 2 days working from home) 12 month contract (outside of IR35) £(Apply online only) per day
About the Role: - We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide post-contract commercial support across a range of work packages. This is a key role supporting project delivery, ensuring commercial success while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners. - You will play a vital role in managing costs, controlling change, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on time.
Responsibilities: - Provide post-contract commercial support across subcontract, materials, and direct labour packages - Ensure projects are delivered within cost and time constraints - Support the commercial management of work packages including Design, Installation, Test & Commission, Materials, Telecoms, Electrification, Power, Plant, Professional Services, Civil Engineering, and Permanent Way - Manage change control processes for assigned work packages - Act as the primary commercial interface for work package managers - Provide contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering teams - Manage costs, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial control - Identify, monitor, and mitigate commercial risks - Contribute to internal and external commercial reporting - Ensure compliance with company processes and document control standards - Collaborate with finance, project management, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients - Maintain auditable records in line with contractual requirements
Requirements: - Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contractor-side project environment - Background in industries such as rail, engineering, defence, construction, or similar - Degree qualified (or equivalent) and/or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, IACCM) - Strong experience managing direct labour and subcontract costs - Skilled in estimating and managing change/variations - Experienced in cost forecasting and variance analysis - Strong commercial reporting experience (internal and external) - Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills - Strong commercial and financial acumen - Able to work independently under tight deadlines - Solid contractual knowledge and experience - Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels - Strong team player with collaborative approach - Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
