Our client, a leader in the rail infrastructure sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a long-term contract position based in Huddersfield. This role offers an opportunity to work on a high-profile rail project, providing commercial support and ensuring successful project delivery outside IR35 regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide pre/post contract commercial support for designated projects, including subcontract, materials, and direct labour. Ensure projects are delivered within cost and time constraints. Act as a primary interface working with Project Managers, Work Package Managers, key stakeholders, and suppliers. Responsible for project work package change control and management. Provide contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering. Responsible for work package cost management, including forecasting, budget management, and control. Monitor and actively manage and mitigate work package risks. Produce internal and external commercial reports in line with the Commercial Delivery Strategy. Ensure processes and document control comply with appropriate company standards. Establish and maintain interfaces with key stakeholders such as finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.

Job Requirements:

Degree qualified or equivalent and/or holding or working towards a professional qualification (RICS, ICES, or similar). Strong track record in a contractor-side project environment. Ability to manage both direct labour and subcontract costs. Skill in estimating change/variations using various methods. Able to forecast cost and measure the cost of work completed. Good negotiation skills. Ability to manage commercial strategies. Capability to work with limited supervision and manage expectations. Good financial and commercial acumen. Proficiency in working under own initiative and managing cost or time critical conditions. Sound contractual knowledge and experience. Confidence and ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
