About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on a high-profile £50 million construction project in the heart of Cardiff. This is a rare opportunity to work on a landmark development for an award-winning main contractor with excellent long-term growth prospects.
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will act as the commercial lead, managing and mentoring a team on site, driving cost control, and ensuring commercial compliance throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers and stakeholders to deliver value and maintain profitability on a complex, large-scale scheme.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the commercial function on a major city-centre construction project.

Manage a team of quantity surveyors, providing guidance and mentoring.
*
Prepare and review tender and contract documentation.
*
Monitor costs, valuations, and cash flow to ensure profitability.
*
Manage subcontractor agreements and procurement.
*
Carry out risk assessments and advise on commercial strategies.
*
Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
*
Liaise with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to resolve commercial matters.
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale main contractor projects.
*
Strong experience in cost management, contract administration, and commercial leadership.
*
Ability to lead a site-based team and manage multiple priorities effectively.
*
Excellent knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and cost control processes.
*
Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
*
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc Hons, MRICS preferred).
