Job Description
An established and ambitious main contractor is seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its team, based out of its office in the South. \n\nThis is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, offering the opportunity to further develop your commercial expertise, negotiation skills, and strategic input across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will take full commercial responsibility for major construction projects across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.\n\nThe role involves managing project budgets, valuations, forecasting, subcontract procurement, and cost control procedures to ensure financial performance is achieved while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance standards.\n\nYou will also support and mentor junior members of the commercial team, helping to drive performance and professional development.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nImplement and maintain effective cost control procedures in line with company policy\nManage project budgets, valuations, and monthly forecasting of final accounts\nProduce accurate cost value reconciliations (CVRs)\nPrepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly commercial reports\nLead value engineering and cost optimisation exercises\nWork closely with design teams to ensure cost-effective project delivery\nPrepare and manage project start budgets in collaboration with pre-construction and delivery teams\nProcure subcontractors, materials, and services in line with company governance\nAdminister subcontract accounts, including orders, payments, and variations\nAssess, negotiate, and agree variations within authority levels\nMonitor project cash flow and financial reporting\nPresent commercial updates at project and internal review meetings\nCollaborate with site teams and supply chain partners to maximise efficiency and value\nMaintain awareness of modern construction methods, procurement routes, and market conditions\nEnsure compliance with contractual requirements, Building Regulations, HSE legislation, and sustainability standards\nMentor and develop junior commercial staff\n\nAbout the Business\n\nThis organisation is a well-established and nationally recognised main contractor, delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors.\n\nWith a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and collaboration, the business takes pride in delivering projects that meet both client expectations and commercial objectives.\n\nThe company fosters an inclusive and supportive working environment, where career progression is encouraged and performance is recognised.
