Senior Quantity Surveyor\n\nLocation: Milton Keynes (office-based with site visits)\nSector: Building & Joinery – Residential & Education\nCompany Type: Established family-owned contractor\n\nAbout the Company\n\nWe are a well-established, family-run construction company based in Milton Keynes, specialising in building and high-quality joinery projects. Our work spans residential developments and education projects (schools), with a strong reputation for craftsmanship, long-term client relationships, and a supportive, down-to-earth working culture.\n\nThe Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility across multiple projects from pre-contract through to final account. You will play a key role in supporting project delivery while working closely with directors, site teams, and clients.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong QS who enjoys autonomy and wants to be part of a close-knit, growing business.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Full commercial management of projects from tender to final account\n\n * \n\n Preparing and managing budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts\n\n * \n\n Procurement of subcontractors and materials\n\n * \n\n Valuations, variations, and change control\n\n * \n\n Managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts\n\n * \n\n Supporting pre-construction and tendering where required\n\n * \n\n Working collaboratively with site managers and directors\n\n * \n\n Ensuring commercial best practice and risk management\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or experienced QS ready to step up)\n\n * \n\n Background in building / main contracting (joinery experience advantageous)\n\n * \n\n Experience delivering residential and/or education projects\n\n * \n\n Strong commercial and contractual knowledge\n\n * \n\n Confident communicator with a practical, hands-on approach\n\n * \n\n Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary (dependent on experience)\n\n * \n\n Long-term, stable role within a respected family business\n\n * \n\n Supportive management and low bureaucracy\n\n * \n\n Real influence over projects and commercial decisions\n\n * \n\n Opportunity to grow with the company\n\nApply\n\nIf you are a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for a stable, rewarding role with a family-run contractor that values quality and people, we’d love to hear from you
