Job Description

Senior Quality Inspector

We're seeking an experienced Senior Quality Inspector to join a precision engineering/manufacturing environment. This hands-on role oversees inspection activity, ensures product quality, and supports continuous improvement across production.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily inspection activities including first-off, in-process, and final inspections. Carry out fine limit sheet metal inspection using a range of measuring equipment. Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T. Maintain inspection records, non-conformance reports and inspection plans. Mentor junior inspectors and support resource planning on the shop floor. Work within ISO 9001 standards and assist with audits. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions. Ensure measuring equipment calibration and maintenance. Provide clear quality reports to production and management teams.

Skills & Experience

5+ years in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or precision engineering environment. Strong fine limit sheet metal inspection experience. Proven background in senior/lead inspection roles. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and GD&T. Proficient with manual inspection tools; CMM experience beneficial. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills. Experience coaching or guiding small teams.

Desirable

Formal quality/inspection qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.). Knowledge of SPC or quality software systems.
