Senior Protection and Control Engineer (T and D)\n\nBase: Warrington\n\nWork pattern: Hybrid 2 days office / 3 days home, with flexibility where needed\n\nTypical office hubs: Manchester / Warrington\n\nContract Type: Permanent\n\nSalary: Up to £70,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits\n\nOverview\n\nIf you are working in Protection and Control on UK transmission or DNO networks, this is an opportunity to step into a role with real technical ownership, flexibility, and clear progression.\n\nYou will join an engineering team delivering across major UK network programmes, taking responsibility for protection schemes, relays, and substation automation systems.\n\nWhy This Role Stands Out\n\nWork on major UK grid and substation upgrade programmes\nClear progression into Principal level\nFlexible hybrid working 2 days office / 3 days home\nFlexibility to support personal commitments\nStrong mix of design, testing, and commissioning exposure\nLong-term secured project pipeline\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesigning Protection and Control systems for HV substations 132kV-400kV+\nDeveloping protection schemes, relay settings, and interlocking philosophies\nProducing and reviewing secondary design drawings and technical documentation\nWorking on substation automation, SCADA, and control systems\nSupporting design assurance, verification, and protection coordination studies\nEngaging with transmission clients, DNOs, and ICPs\nSupporting FAT and SAT, commissioning, and site activities\nProviding technical guidance to engineers and supporting team development\nRequirements\n\nStrong experience in Protection and Control within UK transmission or DNO environments\nExperience with protection schemes, relays, and coordination studies\nKnowledge of substation automation, SCADA, and secondary systems\nExperience working on HV substations 132kV-400kV+\nFamiliarity with UK grid standards, design assurance, and testing processes\nPractical, safety-focused approach with strong stakeholder engagement
