About the Business

We are supporting a growing UK business within an established European engineering group, delivering gas engine and power generation solutions across a range of applications including CHP, biogas (AD), peaking power, and data centres. With a strong pipeline of projects and an expanding UK team, the business is looking to appoint a Senior Proposals Engineer to lead technical and commercial bids across their power generation portfolio.


The Role

This is a hands-on technical-commercial position, responsible for leading the development of proposals from initial enquiry through to submission. You will work closely with sales, engineering, and project teams to deliver accurate, high-quality bids for power generation projects, while acting as a key technical point of contact during the pre-sales phase. This is an opportunity to join a growing UK operation where you will have real ownership and the ability to influence how proposals and estimating are structured as the team develops.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for gas engine, CHP, and distributed power projects
  • Review client enquiries, specifications, drawings, and tender documentation
  • Develop scope, assumptions, and cost build-ups for complex engineered projects
  • Carry out site surveys and assess installation constraints, logistics, and technical risks
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, project, and supply chain teams
  • Support client meetings and act as a technical-commercial interface during pre-sales
  • Ensure proposals are delivered to a high standard, on time, and commercially robust
  • Contribute to the development of estimating tools, processes, and bid standards as the UK team grows


About You

We are looking for someone with a background in power generation or distributed energy who can combine technical understanding with commercial awareness. You are likely to come from a proposals, applications, estimating, or technical sales background within:

  • Gas engine or generator OEM / distributor environment
  • CHP, peaking power, or grid services
  • Standby / emergency power generation
  • Data centre or industrial power systems
  • Biogas, AD, or renewable generation

You should be comfortable taking ownership of bids and working in a growing, evolving business environment.


Requirements

  • Experience with gas engines, generators, or power generation systems (CHP experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Proven experience in proposals, tenders, estimating, or technical sales support
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scopes
  • Commercial awareness and strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable in client-facing situations
  • Full UK driving licence


Location

South East – Surrey / Hampshire / London hybrid. Office-based with flexibility and regular travel to client sites.
