Job Description
Location: Nottingham (3 days office, 2 days remote)
Role Overview:
The Project Manager leads low to medium complexity IT projects, ensuring delivery meets agreed requirements within timescale, cost, and quality constraints. This role involves leading a team, working independently on standard projects, and under limited supervision on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Estimating:
Develop and own project plans, resource plans, and financial forecasts
Oversee and validate project estimates from various teams and third parties
Ensure estimates cover all identified work and represent value for money
Project Delivery:
Drive end-to-end delivery of projects within agreed constraints
Manage progress against plans, resources, and budgets
Ensure projects meet agreed business requirements
Follow change control processes for any changes to timescales, cost, or requirements
Foster effective collaboration among all teams involved in delivery
Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies
Record and share lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle
Set clear expectations and hold colleagues, partners, and suppliers accountable
Process & Quality:
Ensure compliance with project delivery methodology and processes, promoting continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, including internal approvals and KPIs
Adhere to Service Introduction and Change Management processes
Finance & Reporting:
Produce and maintain financial forecasts by tracking budgets, actuals, and invoices
Ensure costs are incurred only against approved funds and authorized values
Ensure timely closure of purchase orders and internal orders after final invoices/costs
Stakeholder Management:
Build strong relationships with senior business management, understanding their priorities and project benefits
Develop and implement project communications plans to engage key stakeholders and drive commitment to success
Team Leadership:
Ensure the project team has appropriate structure, headcount, roles, and skills
Lead and motivate the team, providing coaching and guidance
Develop business knowledge within the team
Ensure clarity of responsibilities and provide regular feedback on performance
Inspire the team to continually improve ways of working
Performance Measures:
Delivery of projects to time, cost, and quality
Projects delivered right first time, providing reliable systems and cost-effective support
Positive feedback from business on deliverables, stakeholder engagement, and partnering
Positive feedback from partners and third parties on joint working
Contribution to improving solution delivery capability and project delivery methodology
Team feedback on collaboration and support
Business team feedback on support provided
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Experience managing end-to-end IT project delivery
Familiarity with relevant IT project delivery methodology and processes
Experience leading a team
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable:
Experience managing projects with onshore and offshore teams
Experience in a retail organization
Expert knowledge of processes in relevant business areas (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain)
Project management qualification (e.g., APMP, Prince2)
