Senior Project Manager (Construction) - Fixed Term ContractLocation: Brixton / South London (with weekly attendance in central London)\nContract: 18-24 month FTC\nSalary: £80,000 - £90,000 per annum\nWorking Pattern: Flexible; site‑based as project progresses\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Construction) to lead the delivery of a new ambulance station in Brixton, acting as the client‑side lead throughout the full project lifecycle.This is a high-profile, complex capital project currently at design concept stage, with a project/programme consultant and full design team already appointed. The role will operate with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, reporting into senior leadership and interfacing regularly with executive‑level governance.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAct as client‑side project lead for the end‑to‑end delivery of a major healthcare construction project, from design through to construction, commissioning and handover\nProvide senior technical and delivery leadership across the project team, consultants and contractors\nLead NHS capital governance, business case development, assurance and reporting\nEnsure compliance with HBNs, HTMs, Building Regulations, planning legislation and construction regulatory requirements, including the Building Safety Act\nManage project risks, programme, budget and change control\nChair and attend governance and assurance meetings (weekly attendance at HQ in Waterloo required)\nBuild strong collaborative relationships with operational stakeholders, clinical users and external partners\nEnsure construction activity is delivered safely, without compromising operational servicesWorking Arrangements\n\nInitially, up to 3 days per week at an operational base.\nAs the project moves into construction, up to 5 days per week on site will be required.\nA flexible and pragmatic approach to working is essential.About You\n\nYou will be a senior construction professional with demonstrable experience delivering complex capital projects, ideally within healthcare or similarly regulated environments.You will be able to demonstrate:\n\nExtensive experience delivering large-scale construction projects in the public sector\nStrong understanding of NHS governance, capital processes and assurance\nIn-depth knowledge of HBNs, HTMs, statutory compliance and construction regulation\nProven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage external consultants\nExcellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, including at board level\nSound financial and commercial acumen for large capital programmesQualifications:\n\nRelevant degree (or equivalent experience) in construction, engineering, building surveying or similar\nChartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, CIBSE or equivalent)\nProject or programme management qualificationWhy Apply?\n\nLead the delivery of a critical piece of emergency services infrastructure for London\nHigh‑impact, autonomous senior role with real visibility\nCompetitive salary (£80-90k) and a clearly defined 18-24 month programmePlease get in touch with for more information, or click 'Apply Now'.\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
