PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £72,000 - £82,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To lead the development of a scalable, flexible, and secure Machine Learning platform that accelerates the use of ML and Generative AI across the BBC, supporting its digital ambitions and empowering teams to deliver greater value to audiences.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Define and own the roadmap for the ML platform, aligned with strategic vision and user needs.
- Lead a cross-functional team through Agile development to deliver impactful platform features.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to understand workflows and translate them into platform capabilities.
- Promote platform adoption through training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor platform performance and evolve it to align with emerging ML tools and best practices.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Proven product management experience leading technical products, platform products, or ML solutions.
- Technical expertise in developing AI/ML solutions within an established organisation, including experience with AWS.
- Good knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of working with data scientists and data engineers.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt this in different situations and to different stakeholder groups.
- Experience building platform capabilities, considering scalability, security, adoption, onboarding, and support.
DESIRED
- E xperience collaborating with senior leadership to ensure platform supports larger product strategy
- Familiarity with Agile development processes and leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to write compelling product narratives and user stories to support discovery and feature definition.
- Ability to make informed decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and communicate effectively across the multi-discipline team
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices and integrating compliance into platform tools and processes.
The interview process will be two stages and held either in person in Salford or London or on MS Teams. The first stage will include a short presentation / scenario followed by the second interview where you'll demonstrate the required competencies through examples from your experience. Interviews will commence the week of 11th August 2025.
