Senior Product Designer – Energy Trading

£500/day | Inside IR35 | Long-term rolling contract

London (Canary Wharf – 3 days per week onsite)

We’re partnering with a leading digital transformation consultancy who are delivering critical programmes for a global energy trading business. They are urgently seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the Trading organisation, working on complex, data-driven analytics platforms used daily by analysts and traders.

This is a rare opportunity for a London-based designer to embed directly with a high-performing product team in a secure trading environment. Onsite presence in Canary Wharf 2–3 days per week is a non-negotiable business requirement.

The Opportunity

You’ll play a pivotal role in transforming and modernising end-to-end analytical workflows across a major analytics ecosystem, including the Analytics Data Workbench. This is a hands-on senior role combining UX strategy, deep user understanding, and high-quality UI execution in a demanding, enterprise-scale environment.

You’ll work closely with product, engineering, analytics, and trading stakeholders, helping shape tools that support real-time, high-stakes decision making.

Key Responsibilities

UX Strategy & Direction

• Define and evolve the UX strategy for trading and analytics platforms
• Set design direction as datasets, users, and functionality scale
• Solve complex interaction and information design challenges in a data-heavy environment

Design Execution

• Lead user research and translate insights into actionable solutions
• Produce high-quality design artefacts, including:
• User journeys and service flows
• Information architecture
• Interaction models and patterns
• Wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes
• Deliver clear, structured, and visually consistent UI designs
• Contribute to and maintain standardised UI components and design systems

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, developers, testers, and trading SMEs
• Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and design reviews
• Act as the voice of the user while balancing commercial, technical, and regulatory constraints
• Build strong relationships within a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment

What They’re Looking For

Essential

• Senior-level experience in UX/UI design with enterprise software implementation
• Strong portfolio demonstrating complex, data-rich products (this is critical)
• Proven experience contributing to or leading UX strategy
• Excellent problem-solving, structured thinking, and communication skills
• Confident engaging with senior and specialist stakeholders
• Strong experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
• Advanced proficiency with Figma (this is a must, they want a Figma power user)
• Comfortable working across multiple fidelities and platforms

Highly Desirable

• Experience on analytics, AI, or data-led platforms
• Exposure to trading, financial services, energy, or front-office environments
• Strong understanding of how design translates into build, and comfort working closely with engineers
