Senior Procurement Specialist\n\nPermanent\n Full-time, with flexibility for part-time\n Hybrid working - 2-3 days per week in the office, one day has to be in the Peterborough office. \n\nNEC 3 or 4 EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL \n\nThe role\n\nThis Senior Procurement Specialist role is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering a pipeline of strategic sourcing initiatives and leading complex contract negotiations. You will play a critical role in delivering commercial outcomes that support business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer value.\n\nUsing strong strategic thinking and influencing skills, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will develop a deep understanding of market dynamics and business demand across defined spend areas, ensuring supplier relationships are effective and deliver long-term value.\n\nAs a senior member of the procurement team, you will mentor and support colleagues, helping to build capability, share best practice, and drive continuous improvement across the function.\n\nKey responsibilities\n\nDevelop, own, and actively manage a strategic portfolio of sourcing activity\n\nDeliver sourcing initiatives in a timely manner to maximise value\n\nLead complex commercial negotiations using appropriate sourcing methodologies\n\nBuild a strong understanding of business needs and demand profiles across assigned spend areas\n\nIdentify spend trends, risks, and opportunities using data and market insight\n\nEnsure procurement systems and governance processes are followed to maintain an auditable trail\n\nBuild and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, influencing and constructively challenging where required\n\nSupport the procurement manager in leading and developing the team\n\nMentor and coach team members to build capability and confidence\n\nContribute to a collaborative, innovative, and continuously improving procurement culture\n\nLead supplier appointment and onboarding using appropriate sourcing methodologies based on value and complexity\n\nWhat we're looking for\n\nCIPS qualified to Level 5 minimum (or equivalent professional or degree-level qualification in procurement or a commercial discipline)\n\nStrong knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and relevant procurement legislation\n\nProven experience delivering complex strategic sourcing projects\n\nDemonstrated ownership and drive to achieve best value outcomes\n\nExperience developing and managing sourcing strategies within governance frameworks\n\nStrong understanding of contract structures and legal terms (experience with NEC contracts is beneficial)\n\nExcellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills\n\nProactive, collaborative mindset with adaptability and openness to new ways of working\n\nWhat's on offer\n\nFlexible working arrangements\n\nHybrid working model\n\nGenerous annual leave allowance\n\nCompetitive pension scheme\n\nBonus opportunity\n\nFlexible benefits to support wellbeing and lifestyle
