Job Description
Job Title: Senior Procurement Engineer – Capability InsertionLocation: Warton/Samlesbury – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular roleSalary: £49,400+ (DOE)What you’ll be doing:You will support strategic procurement across allocated equipment and suppliersYou will be delivering value-for-money solutions aligned to customer and programme needs; contribute to programme reviews and track budgets and purchase orders; identify cost-saving opportunitiesYou’ll negotiate contracts, pricing, and resolve commercial queriesYou will monitor supplier performance and monitor associated risks, including the maintenance of key equipment and development programmesYou will be building supplier relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Engineering) to ensure on-time programme deliveryYou’ll ensure compliance with procurement processes, life cycle management , and obsolescence strategiesYour skills and experiences:Essential:Considerable communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across internal and external stakeholdersUnderstanding of supplier risk maintenance and building supply chain resilienceExperience in multi-faceted programme environments, with the ability to interpret data, propose value-driven solutions, and present clear recommendationsProficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Desirable:Experience in obsolescence, redesign, or development project procurementContract negotiation skills and familiarity with procurement terms and languageAwareness of defence or aerospace sector governanceWorking towards or holding a professional procurement or business qualification (such as MCIPS)Benefits:As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Procurement Capability Insertion Team:We’re a dynamic team driving the procurement strategy behind next- capabilities.
