Senior Process Engineer - Cambridge - Green Hydrogen - Salary to c. £80k p/a Working arrangements: Ideally 4 days a week in office, 1 day WFH (but could be negotiable for an exceptional and experienced candidate)
Are you a seasoned Process Engineer ready to move from concept to reality on a groundbreaking sustainable technology?
We are recruiting for a deep-tech start-up pioneering a novel hydrothermal process to convert waste carbon into renewable fuels.
They are now scaling up from R&D to building their first Pilot and First-Of-A-Kind (FOAK) plant, and now need a key technical leader to make it happen.
This is a rare opportunity to wield significant technical influence and see your designs directly shape a technology designed to transform the energy market.
In this role, you will:
Lead Process Design: Take ownership of process engineering from concept through FEED to execution, developing PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, and equipment specifications for green methanol and hydrogen production systems. Drive Project Delivery: Provide crucial technical support through procurement, construction, and commissioning, working closely with partners to ensure process integrity. Champion Safety & Optimisation: Participate in HAZID/HAZOP studies and lead the optimisation of designs for cost, operability, and safety. Mentor & Grow: Help build engineering capability from the ground up by mentoring junior engineers and embedding best practices.
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in a relevant process industry, such as: Hydrogen production or electrolysis Oil & Gas Industrial Gases Syngas or chemical synthesis plants Solid knowledge of process safety and design standards. The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment where your problem-solving skills and adaptability are key.
