Summary
Freedom Electrical Design Services are currently recruiting a Substation Design Engineer to join our team. The Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering design of EHV , HV and LV electrical substation projects both in the UK and internationally, meeting safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
The role will require travel to other Freedom offices and client site locations across the UK with overnight stays where necessary
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Deliver substation primary plant and cable design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability
- Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, design calculations, cable design, cable route feasibility survey etc.
- Seek out innovative solutions to technical problems.
- Advice and design work for primary plant including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear cables and all substation equipment and substation design up to 11kV up to 400kV.
- Have sound analytical and numeracy skills including short-circuit forces calculation, cable rating calculations, short-circuit current calculations and lightning protection calculations.
- Have a solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/structural and OHL aspects of HV substations.
If the above sounds exciting and something you're well versed in, then we'd love to hear from you! You will work with the Senior Electrical Engineer and assist with the design and delivery of new build and refurbishment projects. Ideally qualifications and experience in:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of CAD
- Knowledge of Substation Design
- Full UK Driving license
