Job Summary In response to Equinix’s rapidly growing pipeline of Global Design & Construction (GDC) data centre capex projects, the GDC Systems team was established to focus on:
Streamlining and improving the consistency of project delivery Allow planning, managing, and reporting to take place at a portfolio level (in addition to project level) Identifying the challenges the GDC project delivery teams are experiencing, and developing solutions using globally‑consistent IT tools and systems Driving automation to support the scaling of our business
The GDC Systems strategy is currently being implemented through the selection, development, roll‑out, training and support of an integrated suite of tools:
Project Information Management Project Planning & Management Dashboards and Reporting Project Controls
This position is within the GDC Systems team – currently a relatively small team, supporting the much larger GDC team (over 300 people) to deliver over 75 projects globally per year. The role is particularly focused on implementing our Common Data Environment (CDE) system across our global portfolio, and is well‑suited to a person who has:
Design and construction experience, and an appreciation of what’s required by project teams to deliver complex data centre projects Knowledge of construction collaboration and project/portfolio information management tools Experience setting up similar systems on major projects/portfolios Knowledge of best practices and industry standards for configuring and managing such tools Proactive and problem‑solving attitude
The role can be partly carried out remotely, but requires working from an Equinix office 2 days per week, and requires working hours to be flexible to allow collaboration with others across all 3 regions (EMEA, AMER, APAC). The ability to operate at a global level within a matrix organisation is essential. Responsibilities
1) Systems Development
Stakeholder engagement: seeking opportunities to build effective stakeholder relationships and knowledge of their functions Working with internal stakeholders to understand and define their business requirements/use cases Working closely with Equinix IT and external systems development consultant to ensure stakeholder requirements are delivered Managing the development and delivery of new modules/functionality, user acceptance testing, and transitioning them into production Keeping stakeholders updated with progress, encouraging feedback, and managing expectations Process development and improvement—adopting and adapting existing processes and methodologies, as well as defining new ones, to maintain continuous improvement in our systems Working within the GDC Systems team to develop an integrated suite of tools (providing project teams a streamlined experience for navigating and accessing the data and files they need to deliver projects efficiently to the operations team) for:
Project Information Management (primarily Procore, in conjunction with Autodesk BIM 360 for modelling, and Facility Grid for commissioning) – this is the key focus of this role Project Planning & Management Dashboards, Reporting & Analytics Project Controls Project Scheduling
2) Implementation and Roll‑out
System set‑up and configuration – primarily at a portfolio/company level, allowing individual projects to be set up in a streamlined and consistent way, enabling scalable access/permissions management, and standardised reporting and KPIs to be available across our portfolio of projects User Training
Creating training documentation/materials Delivering training sessions (live and/or pre‑recorded) Communicating system updates / lessons learned to users Actively supporting development of end‑user knowledge and skills for the GDC team

3) Systems Support
Providing systems support and guidance to project teams (in all regions – EMEA, AMER, APAC) and central/global teams (e.g. PMO, Project Controls), in conjunction with Equinix IT for technical/backend support, ultimately becoming one of the day‑to‑day go‑to people for GDC systems support Supporting the development of simple and scalable data gathering to enhance and improve the project managers experience with regard to the multiple reporting requirements of the GDC organisation Using ServiceNow to manage support tickets
4) Monitoring & Feedback
Focus on continual improvement: carrying out system reviews/audits/validation to confirm that the tools and processes are being used correctly, and facilitating feedback to the systems development team where improvements are required Obtaining feedback on reporting requirements Obtaining feedback on requirements for new / improved systems functionality
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
7+ years’ experience working in a Project/Portfolio Management (PMO) team in a design or construction environment Would suit an experienced Project Information Manager who would like to elevate to operating at a Portfolio level Bachelor’s degree required (e.g. Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, Information Management, IT Systems) Project or Information Management qualification preferred Experience working with PPM tools and Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS); Procore is a bonus Experience with Primavera P6 or MS Project planning tool would be beneficial, but not essential MS Office confident (PowerBI is a bonus) Strategic and analytic thinker, but with a strong operational focus (i.e. practical and hands‑on) Experience working with and manipulating data / databases / datasets Experience with Process Management improvements Experience with Stakeholder Management Attention to detail and good time management skills required Need to be a positive, self‑motivated, self‑starter, but also a team‑player, with ability to adapt to changing priorities Effective communicator – ability to convey technical information in an easy‑to‑understand way, across global project teams and multiple levels of an organisation, and experience with training others Able to design dashboards, roadmaps & presentations Coordination, communication, problem‑solving skills required Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships Willingness to travel internationally (occasionally) to support project teams on‑site, and work with other multi‑disciplinary teams in our offices Written and spoken fluency in English
