Job Description

We are working closely with high performing region of a well regarded volume housebuilder who have an impressive business plan to achieve consistent growth over the next 5 years. We have been mandated to strengthen numerous departments to facilitate this growth, including planning which boasts a stable team of experienced professionals who operate with autonomy. As a senior planner you will have your own projects to drive forward and the pipeline of land is excellent. This opportunity would suit an existing senior planner looking for a fresh challenge but also an ambitious planner looking to step up in their career.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and submission of planning applications for residential developments, from pre-application through to determination.
  • Manage all aspects of the planning process, including appeals, reserved matters, and discharge of conditions.
  • Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and communities to secure positive planning outcomes.
  • Work closely with internal teams (land, technical, design, and commercial) to align planning strategies with business objectives.
  • Monitor local planning policy changes and identify potential opportunities or risks for the business.
  • Prepare and present planning reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee external planning consultants to ensure deliverables meet cost, time, and quality targets.
  • Support the land acquisition process with planning due diligence and feasibility advice.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in securing planning consents for residential schemes, ideally within a housebuilder or consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system, policy framework, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience engaging with local authorities and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple planning projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and capitalise on development opportunities.
  • Degree-qualified in Town Planning or related discipline, MRTPI preferred.
  • Collaborative mindset with the confidence to work independently when required.
