Blue Diamond Recruitment is partnering with a respected Birmingham-based planning consultancy to appoint a Senior Planner to play a key role in project delivery and client service across a varied planning portfolio.

Our client is an established independent planning consultancy with a strong track record in delivering high-quality planning services across residential, employment, education and mixed-use development sectors. The team is experienced, commercially focused and enjoys close involvement with clients and stakeholders throughout the planning process.

As Senior Planner, you will be responsible for leading and managing a diverse workload of planning work from inception through to determination. You will support project delivery across site promotions, planning applications, policy work and stakeholder engagement, working closely with directors and senior associates.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and submission of planning applications and supporting documentation
• Advise on planning strategy for major residential, education and mixed-use schemes
• Promote sites through local plans and development plan processes
• Undertake policy research, analysis and planning appraisals
• Engage effectively with local planning authorities, consultees, developers and clients
• Prepare planning statements, reports, representations and consultations
• Manage stakeholder relationships at a senior level
• Mentor and support junior planners and contribute to team development
• Attend site visits, meetings and hearings where required
• Provide clear and compelling written and verbal communication

• Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) or close to achieving chartered status
• Significant planning consultancy experience (typically 4+ years post-qualification)
• Strong understanding of UK planning policy and development management framework
• Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with autonomy and discretion
• Experience across residential, employment and education schemes preferred
