Senior Planner - Transportation Division\n Locations: London/Birmingham/Manchester/Bristol (flexible)\n Duration: 12 months initially \n Rate: Negotiable on experience (Inside IR23)\n\nAs a Senior Planner in our Transportation Division, you'll be able to bring your unique skills, work style and background to the mix. The role within our Transportation Group, based in Birmingham, requires a strong technical background in the transportation industry Rail & Highways.\n The successful applicant will be the facilitator providing comprehensive Project Controls to the project teams and to the client. As the Senior Planner, you will report into the Project Controls Manager, with accountability to the Project Manager.\n Role:\n This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, world class project controls team; working on some of the UK's largest transportation infrastructure projects. You will be part of an experienced team that have a significant impact on the successful delivery of these multi-million-pound contracts, using state of the art project controls tools and techniques that provide concise information to the projects they support.\n Requirements:\n\nRail/Highway experience.\nA detailed understanding of transportation technologies, including but not limited to: Signalling, Track (P-Way), Structures (tunnels, bridges, earthworks, embankments, buildings, structures, gantries, access platforms etc), Electrification & Plant and Telecoms.\nExperience of programming multi-disciplinary engineering design and Good understanding of engineering activities and how engineering is scheduled.\nMust have an excellent understanding for how projects are designed, procured, constructed and commissioned.\nAn expert user of Primavera P6.\nThis role requires the Planner to carry out their Project Control duties with limited supervision, and work under their own initiative in the production of Project Programmes and Tender Programmes.\nPrevious experience of managing Junior planners desired, allocating tasks, checking achievements and providing constructive feedback, direction and management.\nExperience of various forms of contract, including NEC.\nExperience of Schedule Risk and Cost analysis.\nExperience of Claims.\nExperience of working with company Enterprise systems.\nPrepares project resource histograms.\nImplementation and use of EVM on projects.\nMust demonstrate a detailed understanding of Project Controls Techniques including, budget and spend management, change control, Earned Value Management, data analysis, trend analysis and Work Package Management.\nExperience of working on large projects up to £50m.\nExperienced Engineering Professional with a qualification in Mechanical/Civil Engineering .\nMember of the APM .\nExcellent communication skills and able to present and communicate complex matters in a professional and straightforward manner both in writing and orally.\nA proactive, structured and analytical approach to work as well as a good eye for detail and data quality.Responsibilities:\n\nYou will be responsible for all aspects of the Projects programme and Project Controls.\nRepresent and drive Project Controls Policy, attend and guide client progress meetings.\nResponsible for the completion of projects to time and cost.\nProvide regular supervision to junior members of the team as required.\nFamiliar with commercial and financial aspects of project management.\nBuilding relationships with limited set of common clients and maintaining regular client contact.\nHave a good understanding of Transportation technologies and markets.\nProvision of project performance data, project schedules and reports in a concise and timely manner as required by the projects teams.\nSuccessful in identifying any project deviations and slippages, reports and communicates issues to senior members of the team.\nEnsuring that all issues within the programme are highlighted and understood by Senior Management and giving appropriate planning advice.\nYou will deliver the Period Programme Update and information regarding changes and delays that have impacted the programme on a period-by-period basis.\nDelivering the necessary reports to allow Senior Managers to direct the project appropriately
