Senior Payroll Specialist (Contract)

Hoddesdon (On-site) £300–£400 per day Contract: 3 months

The Role

A short-term contract role supporting a busy payroll function, requiring someone who can hit the ground running in a high-volume, manual processing environment.

You’ll be responsible for assisting with end-to-end payroll activities, focusing heavily on data accuracy, manual calculations, and Excel-based processing.

Key Responsibilities

* Support end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume workforce (2000+)

* Input, check, and reconcile payroll data using Excel

* Perform manual calculations and validate payroll outputs

* Maintain and update payroll records accurately

* Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies

* Support the payroll team with administrative and data tasks

* Ensure all payroll activities are completed accurately and to deadline

The Ideal Candidate

* Experience supporting end-to-end payroll processing

* Strong Excel skills (testing at interview stage)

* Confident with manual calculations and high-volume payroll data

* Highly organised with strong attention to detail

* Able to quickly learn systems and processes with minimal supervision

* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, manual environment

* Proactive, hands-on approach with strong accuracy focus

* Driving licence preferred due to location
