LOCATION: Office based at BBC Birmingham, Mailbox. Shifts are required.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £33,000 to £43, 000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Operations Team in Birmingham provide technical services to our daily news output. This includes Midlands Today, Politics Midlands, our Online and Audio offerings in the West Midlands and Local Radio.
We provide gallery directing, vision and audio mixing, location shoot/edit crewing, media management, varied studio operations and Satellite truck operations.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• To provide high quality and creative location camera work and quick turn-around packages, when needed on the day editing to a tight deadline.
• Working flexibly to provide live outside broadcasts for Midlands Today into all bulletins
• Bring interest to the programme to help develop the editorial story and creative story telling
• Multi-skill to enable smooth running of the rotas, that will include undertaking day, early, late and weekend shifts
• Work flexibly to meet the needs of Live broadcasts when needed
• Undertake other operational shifts within the team outside filming based on previous skills or business need
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in location filming and editing, working closely with the teams' producers and journalists to manage the look and feel of a story, adding to, and delivering a productions team vision to tight broadcast deadlines.
• Demonstrable ability to produce creative ideas for the look and feel of a story and our viewers, show evidence of being able to foster a close working relationship with the production team and be able to realise and deliver those ideas to tight deadlines.
• Have a strong understanding of our target audiences across all platforms, and the ability to tailor content accordingly.
• Understanding health and safety guidelines, offering a proven track record of working safely.
• Show the ability to build relationships, to train new and junior staff, sharing your skills and experiences and to multi-skill, meeting the needs of the programme.
DESIRABLE:
• Ability to sound mix or edit
• Experience gained in a live broadcast environment would be beneficial.
• Additional operational skills would be advantageous
• Media Management
• Editing on Quantel
• Vision mixing or directing
• Experience of operating live satellite links
