Senior Operations Manager
12 month maternity cover

An experienced Senior Operations Manager role supporting Account Management within a global specialty insurance environment, providing strategic operational support to a market-facing team during a period of change. You will play a key role in improving coordination and embedding foundational processes that enable the team to operate more effectively.
The Account Management team sits at the center of market engagement, building long-term relationships with key external partners and industry stakeholders. The team works closely with senior leaders across the organisation, coordinating with multiple internal functions and sharing insights to support strategic priorities and effective market collaboration.
Responsibilities
• Provide strategic direction for account management operations, leading a team delivering operational support and ensuring clear objectives and development opportunities.
• Define and implement an operational excellence framework across the function, ensuring effective processes, tools, communication, technology and ways of working are in place.
• Coordinate account management activity and cross-functional teams across operational workflows, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
• Act as a central point of contact for operational coordination, logistics, process improvements and delivery support across multiple teams.
• Support senior leadership to identify bottlenecks, triage risks and progress priority initiatives.
• Embed a culture of continuous improvement across operational processes supporting the account management function.
• Support and streamline team operations including documentation, internal reporting and knowledge sharing.
• Track key actions, proactively escalate issues and support effective decision-making.
• Maintain documentation for core processes and provide guidance and training to support team understanding and adoption.
• Provide ad-hoc operational and strategic support to senior leadership as required.
Skills & Capabilities
• Strategic thinking with the ability to manage a broad network of internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience leading and developing teams delivering operational support.
• Strong project management capability with experience delivering change within complex, matrix environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to prioritise competing demands across multiple initiatives and operational processes.
• Experience developing delivery plans, tracking progress and supporting benefits realisation.
• Strong influencing and communication skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse and interpret both quantitative and qualitative information.
Knowledge
• Understanding of the global insurance or financial services sector
• Best practice operational processes and frameworks associated with change and transformation
• Governance and controls frameworks within regulated environments (desirable)
• Risk management processes
Experience
• Experience within insurance, reinsurance or broader financial services
• Senior stakeholder engagement and influencing experience
• Leading teams delivering operational and strategic priorities
• Project planning and delivery, including implementation and adoption
• Applying operational excellence principles to business processes
• Managing multiple initiatives simultaneously within complex environments
• Supporting transformation initiatives within fast-paced organisations
• Experience implementing technology solutions and supporting system change
• Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms
• Experience developing cross-functional processes and frameworks
