Job Description
Senior Operations Engineer
Role Purpose & Overview
We are looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for delivering and supporting business-critical applications across the Productivity and Corporate technology stack. You will be a trusted subject-matter expert, working closely with engineers and delivery managers to ensure high-quality, reliable and scalable platforms for a workforce of around 1,700 users across office and remote environments.
The environment is cloud-first and collaboration-driven, with a strong focus on Google Workspace and Workforce Management (Okta or equivalent). A growing number of business systems depend on these platforms, so making the right configuration, security and integration decisions is part of everyday life. You will help define best practice, prioritise improvements, and lead the rollout of new features and capabilities.
You will play a key role in transforming the way people work — making cloud collaboration easy, secure and user-friendly — while also ensuring the platforms are robust, well-governed and supported to enterprise standards.
What You’ll Be Working With
Google Workspace (G Suite)
Workforce Management (Okta or similar)
Cloud authentication and access management
Integration with business-critical SaaS and internal systems
Core GCP fundamentals
Windows-based systems (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
Provide 2nd / 3rd line support and handle BAU operations for supported systems
Configure, maintain and optimise productivity and platforms
Create and maintain high-quality documentation and knowledge bases
Monitor platforms and carry out daily health checks to prevent incidents
Triage and resolve incidents, escalating to internal teams or vendors where needed
Analyse trends in incidents and performance to drive continuous improvement
Work on projects introducing new technologies, tools and workflows into BAU
Collaborate with other technology teams to identify root causes and service improvements
Mentor and support junior team members through knowledge sharing and coaching
Represent the team during incident reviews, business escalations and vendor meetings
Build strong working relationships across technology teams, business units and suppliers
Provide site-based cover during core hours (08:00–18:00 on an 8-hour shift basis)
Participate in out-of-hours, weekend and 24/7 on-call rotas
Engage in internal and external outreach to promote the department
Essential Skills & Experience
You will be a proactive, service-driven engineer who is comfortable owning platforms, solving complex problems and working in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Experience in leading or playing a senior role in project delivery
Strong 2nd / 3rd line support experience in cloud or enterprise IT environments
Operational experience in an ITIL-based environment
Administration of cloud productivity platforms (Google Workspace, Office 365 or similar)
Administration of Workforce platforms (Okta, Azure AD or similar), including:
Application onboarding
User lifecycle management
Profile sourcing
Authentication protocols (SAML, OIDC)
Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience using service desk / ticketing tools
Ability to create and maintain clear, structured documentation
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to assess risk and take appropriate action
Self-starter who can manage and prioritise their own workload
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Additional / Desirable Skills
Okta certifications
Okta Workflows experience
Google Workspace certifications
GAM administration
GCP experience
ITIL or Agile certifications
SaaS lifecycle management (Slack, Atlassian, etc.)
Apps Script, JavaScript or object-oriented programming
SCIM and API integrations
Postman or API testing tools
Windows / Windows Server administration
Change management
Stakeholder and vendor management
HR-driven experience
Why Apply?
This is a chance to work in a modern, cloud-first environment where productivity, and collaboration are core to how the business operates. You’ll have real influence over how platforms are designed, improved and scaled — not just how they’re supported.
If you have strong transferable experience from other platforms and are excited to learn Google Workspace and Okta, we’d still love to hear from you.
