This is a senior role within an established M&E business, offering long-term stability, strong career progression, and the chance to influence and improve estimating processes across multiple projects.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key part in securing new business and ensuring tenders are prepared accurately, competitively, and in line with company standards. Responsibilities include:\n\n * Preparing, analysing and submitting mechanical tenders across a diverse range of building services projects.\n\n * Carrying out detailed take-offs, cost build-ups, and analytical estimating.\n\n * Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.\n\n * Managing supplier and subcontractor enquiries to obtain competitive and compliant quotations.\n\n * Identifying risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options during pre-construction.\n\n * Liaising with internal teams, senior leadership, clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.\n\n * Presenting commercial and technical aspects of tenders for director-level approval.\n\n * Supporting handover processes to delivery teams with clarity and accurate documentation.\n\n * Contributing to the development of estimating systems, cost libraries and process improvements.\n\n * Mentoring and supporting junior team members where required.\n\nAbout You\n\nWe’re looking for someone who brings:\n\n * Extensive experience in mechanical estimating within building services/M&E contracting.\n\n * Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and installation methods.\n\n * Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings and specifications confidently.\n\n * Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of tendering processes.\n\n * Strong communication and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.\n\n * Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.\n\n * A proactive, organised and detail-driven approach to managing multiple bids.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Competitive salary £85–95k\n\n * Strong, stable company with a healthy project pipeline\n\n * Supportive senior leadership team and collaborative working environment\n\n * Opportunity to shape processes and contribute to business growth\n\n * Long-term progression within pre-construction and estimating
