Senior Mechanical Engineer – Optomechanical Systems

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000

Platform Recruitment is working with a cutting-edge technology company developing complex precision systems for high-performance consumer and industrial products. As part of continued growth, they’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation electro-mechanical systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team, working on highly innovative products from concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Design precision mechanical parts and assemblies

+ Build and operate lab-based mechanical systems

+ Rapidly prototype new concepts

+ Create detailed CAD models and drawings

+ Liaise with suppliers for prototyping and manufacturing

+ Customer facing – including travel

Key Requirements:

+ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

+ Experience with optical precision systems

+ Demonstrable experience in taking products from concept through to production

+ Strong CAD skills – Solidworks

+ Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including injection moulding

+ Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing
