Job Description
Senior Mechanical Engineer\n Location: Manchester (Hybrid)\n Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n Salary: £45k - £60k (DOE)\n\nWe are recruiting for an award-winning company that are expanding their Manchester team and are looking for a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer who thrives on solving engineering challenges and delivering high-quality design solutions.\n\n In this role, you’ll take ownership of projects from initial concept through to completion, working across a diverse portfolio and supporting the growth and development of their engineering team. Regular travel to site for surveys, inspections, client meetings, and technical reviews will be a key part of your work.\n\n What You’ll Be Doing\n\nLeading mechanical design for building services across all RIBA stages\nCarrying out site visits, condition surveys, inspections, and progress meetings\nPreparing design calculations, technical specifications, and detailed reports\nCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders\nMentoring junior and intermediate engineers\nManaging client relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery\nContributing to technical reviews, design standards, and continuous improvement\nEnsuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practice\nAbout You\n\nDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)\nChartered or working toward Chartership (IET/CIBSE) – highly desirable\nSignificant consultancy experience within building services\nStrong understanding of HVAC, low-carbon technologies, and sustainable design\nConfident conducting independent site visits, surveys, and client discussions\nExcellent communicator with strong leadership and problem-solving skills\nAble to manage workloads effectively and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines\nWhat They Offer\n\nCompetitive salary based on experience\nFlexible working arrangements\nProfessional development support, including Chartership\nA friendly, collaborative, and supportive office environment\nThe chance to work on high-profile, technically challenging projects\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\nBirthday off\nWorkplace pension scheme\nPrivate health insurance (Vitality)\nEye care vouchers\nCycle to work scheme\nPublic transport season ticket loans\nDeath in service scheme\nIf you’re passionate about delivering exceptional engineering solutions and want to play a key role in a friendly and growing team, please feel free to apply
