Job DescriptionWhat you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer to provide drafting and design support for engineering departments by assuming drafting responsibility for assigned projects related to the data center industry! This position is hybrid requiring you to be onsite 3 days per week in York, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, as relocation is not offered for this position.

How you will do it

\n Prepare drawings of piece, parts, and assemblies involving selection of scales, dimensioning, detailed views, sectional views orthographic projects from sketches, layouts or verbal instructions, e.g., Sheet metal housings, etc. \n

Utilize Excel for macro programs to improve CAD (Inventor) productivity by reducing or eliminating interactive commands to create repetitious geometry or drawings. \n

Prepare bills of material and prelists using computerized bill of material system \n

Proficient at using 2D CAD software in drawing, drafting and design tasks. Can develop complex top-down designs, and large assembly layouts. \n

Proficient at using 3D Solids/Parametric software in drawing, modeling and design tasks. Can develop complex top down designs, and large assembly layouts. \n

Proficient at preparing and producing sheet metal designs and drawings using CAD software \n

Check work of others that is similar in type and complexity to that which is personally performed. \n

Train less experienced drafters in areas of technical and practice knowledge. \n

Maintain established schedules and accuracy. \n

Demonstrate knowledge and use of codes or standards for design applications and conformance as related to job. \n

Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes such as tooling limitations as defined by drafting manual. \n

Demonstrate knowledge HVAC principles as related to job. \n

Review project specifications and requirements to assure conformance of design and fabrication of product. \n

Independently uses mechanical design techniques when packaging mechanical devices with minimum assistance. \n

\n 7+ years of sheet metal design experience \n

3D modeling experience \n

Able to mentor/train junior Designers \n

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) \n

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $30.00 - $40.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
