Senior Managing Consultant

Salary - up to £100,000 plus bonus & benefits

This role focuses on leading and developing a team within a corporate consulting environment, with responsibility for both people management and client delivery. It involves overseeing day-to-day team performance, ensuring high standards of client service, and supporting the ongoing development of consultants.


The position also holds responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients, maintaining strong relationships, and contributing to wider business growth through collaboration with internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of consultants, providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and ongoing support with career progression
  • Oversee workload distribution and resource planning to ensure effective delivery across client portfolios
  • Act as a senior point of contact for team queries and escalations, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently
  • Maintain accountability for a portfolio of corporate clients, primarily across group risk and healthcare
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on benefit strategy and wider people solutions
  • Support business development activity by contributing to new client opportunities and growth initiatives
  • Ensure consistency and quality of client delivery through oversight, guidance, and technical input
  • Encourage a collaborative team culture, sharing best practice and driving continuous improvement
  • Contribute to internal initiatives, including process improvements, proposition development, and knowledge sharing
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members


Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing or mentoring consultants within a client-facing environment
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability, with a focus on developing high-performing teams
  • Experience managing workloads and prioritising effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Solid understanding of the UK employee benefits market, particularly group risk and healthcare
  • Strong client relationship skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify opportunities to add value to clients
  • Confident communicator, able to adapt style depending on audience
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and provide clear recommendations
  • Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
