About the Role

This is a broad, commercially focused in-house legal role offering strong exposure to senior stakeholders, complex contracting work, and the opportunity to contribute to a business scaling rapidly in a dynamic sector. This is a high-impact commercial legal role with wide-ranging responsibility across contractual, operational, regulatory, and strategic matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the business on a broad range of complex commercial agreements, helping to drive business initiatives while managing legal and commercial risk in a pragmatic, solutions-focused way. This is not a purely process-driven contracts role. It requires someone who is confident operating in a fast-paced, non-standard environment, with strong judgement and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams. There is also a strong progression opportunity for the right individual as the legal function continues to evolve and grow.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of complex commercial contracts
• Partner closely with commercial, sales, operational, and business teams to support strategic initiatives and growth
• Advise on a broad range of commercial partnerships and business arrangements
• Support property and location-related contractual matters where relevant
• Identify legal and commercial risk while helping stakeholders achieve practical business outcomes
• Assist with business transformation and integration-related legal work
• Advise on a range of operational and day-to-day legal matters
• Support on consumer-facing issues, including customer terms, complaints, marketing, and digital/customer experience matters
• Provide advice on regulatory and compliance issues, including data protection and consumer law
• Work with internal teams on claims, disputes, and service-related legal matters
• Contribute to legal process improvement, contract governance, and scalable legal frameworks
• Act as a trusted, commercially minded advisor across the business

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with strong private practice and/or in-house training
• Ideally 4–5 years’ PQE, although candidates outside this range may still be considered depending on experience

Required Skills

• Strong background in commercial contracts, including drafting and negotiating complex agreements
• Excellent technical drafting skills and strong attention to detail
• Commercially astute, with the ability to balance risk with business objectives
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Experience partnering with sales, commercial, and operational stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach

Preferred Skills

• Experience in sectors such as retail, FMCG, e-commerce, logistics, telecommunications, technology, or fintech would be advantageous
