Salary: £60,000 depending on skills and experience + 10% bonus

Job Description:
As a Senior Human Factors Engineer, you’ll be providing Human Factors Integration support in the design of products and processes by tailoring and estimating the required human factors work, capturing and managing requirements, risks, and opportunities, offering design guidance, conducting testing and evaluation, and supporting acceptance and review.
Core Duties:
- Providing Human Factors Integration support in the design of products and processes by tailoring and estimating the required human factors work, capturing and managing requirements, risks, and opportunities, offering design guidance, conducting testing and evaluation, and supporting acceptance and review
- Planning and executing quantitative and qualitative human factors assessments (human error, workload, situation awareness, ergonomic analysis, and usability)
- Providing advice on the design and usability of hardware and software products
- Identifying and implementing novel or updated approaches to Human Factors best practice based on up-to-date research
- Scoping and managing how and when work will be conducted
Essential Skills:
- You will have a recognised bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or Engineering
- You will have a registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or Technical Member, with eligibility for registration within 12 months)
- You will have demonstrable experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or a safety-critical industry
- You will be familiar with, or have experience applying Defence Human Factors Standards (e.g. Def Stan 00-251 or Mil-Std 1472) – other industry standards are also welcome

The DI Human Factors team work alongside other Engineers to provide an approach to Usability and Human Safety that integrates with the engineering lifecycle to deliver a holistic approach to system design for our customers. We are the experts in our field, supporting projects that have complex HF Integration requirements, Usability or Safety considerations.
