Senior Health & Safety Advisor


Location: North Tawton (site-based)

Salary: £60,000–£65,000 + package

Sector: Data Centre Construction

Role Overview:


A leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering a major data centre project in North Tawton is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Advisor to support the safe delivery of this high-value, fast-paced scheme. This role will play a key part in driving compliance, improving safety performance, and supporting operational teams on site.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the implementation of the Health & Safety strategy on a large-scale data centre project
  • Provide day-to-day H&S advice and guidance to site teams and subcontractors
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks
  • Review and approve RAMS to ensure safe systems of work
  • Assist in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Promote a strong behavioural safety culture across site
  • Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations
  • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety training sessions
  • Maintain accurate H&S records and reporting documentation
  • Liaise with client representatives and external stakeholders on H&S matters


Required Experience & Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor or Senior Advisor within construction
  • Experience working on large-scale projects (data centre or mission-critical experience highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential)
  • IOSH membership (minimum TechIOSH, working towards GradIOSH/CMIOSH preferred)
  • Experience working with Tier 1 main contractors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence site teams and subcontractors effectively


Desirable:


  • Data centre or mission-critical project experience
  • NEBOSH Diploma or working towards
  • ISO 45001 knowledge or audit experience
  • M&E or complex build experience
