Zetica is seeking an ambitious Senior Geophysicist to drive innovation, uphold technical excellence, and mentor the next generation of geophysicists. This is a unique position straddling academic excellence and commercial integrity.

What you'll be doing :

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead the planning and design of geophysical surveys, from proposal stage to execution.
  • Provide input on complex technical challenges and guide project teams through successful delivery.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Oversee the processing, interpretation, and reporting of high-value geophysical projects.
  • Ensure technical outputs are clear, data-driven, and aligned with client objectives.

Fieldwork Oversight

  • Ensure data quality and integrity during fieldwork.
  • Provide support to field teams and lead on technically demanding site investigations when required.

Quality Assurance & Innovation

  • Maintain Zetica’s high standards for project quality and delivery.
  • Introduce and apply innovative techniques and workflows where appropriate.

Cross-Sector Project Leadership

  • Manage projects across core business areas: Transport infrastructure; Engineering / geotechnical; Environmental and geological surveys; UXO detection; Utility mapping.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Support the development of staff and share technical knowledge across the team.

Travel & Fieldwork

  • Primarily office-based, but may include some travel for project delivery, and to meet customers

Requirements :

Academic Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Geophysics or a closely related field.

Experience

  • Significant hands‑on experience in near‑surface, high‑resolution geophysics.
  • Proven ability to lead large‑scale and technically complex projects.
  • Strong track record of team leadership and technical delivery.

Technical Expertise

  • Practical experience with a wide range of geophysical techniques:
    • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
    • Electromagnetics (EM)
    • Magnetometry
    • Microgravity
    • Electrical methods (e.g. resistivity, induced polarisation)
    • Seismic methods (e.g. refraction, surface wave analysis)

Software Skills

  • Proficiency in software such as Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zond, Aarhus Workbench or similar.
  • Experience with Python for data processing and automation is highly desirable.
  • Competence in GIS / CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, QGIS).
