Our global subsea projects client is now urgently seeking an experienced subsea flexible pipes engineer to join its risers & umbilicals team in the UK
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for the technical follow-up of the flexible pipe package under the guidance of the RIAU Principal Engineer. You will play a crucial role in interfacing with project teams, supporting supplier evaluations, and ensuring that all engineering activities comply with industry standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop specifications for Flexible Pipe Suppliers based on client needs.
- Interface effectively with project teams, engineering teams, and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Support supplier selection through thorough technical evaluations.
- Plan, detail, and review technical documentation related to flexible subsea hardware and topside interfaces.
- Develop documentation packages and conduct studies linked to the sizing and analysis of dynamic riser systems and static jumper systems.
- Manage design analysis and oversee the analysis, design, and engineering activities associated with flexible cross-sections, terminations, bend restrictors, etc.
- Ensure compliance of designs and detailing with industry codes, standards, design guides (e.g., API 17J, DNV, ISO), client specifications, and Subsea 7 internal standards (BMS).
- Produce and check design documentation, including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, specifications, and material take-offs.
- Monitor the overall project/tender planning and manage the planning for your specific scope of work.
- Ensure progress and compliance of suppliers in close collaboration with the SCM function.
- Follow up on flexible design activities, fabrication, and testing, while adhering to HSEQ and group procedures.
- Provide engineering assistance during mobilizations, offshore or site working, as well as Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Integration Tests (SITs), and pre-commissioning.
- Participate in project-related events such as Bid Clarifications, Kick-off meetings, HIRAs, and design reviews.
- Provide technical support to other departments within the engineering group and mentor colleagues.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Hydrodynamics with relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in riser systems analysis (rigid, flexible, or umbilical).
- Proficient in OrcaFlex software.
- Fluent in English.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong sense of responsibility for producing deliverables, including engineering support to the drafting office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, and various third-party submissions.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplined system engineering team.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work within budget and time constraints.
- Strong vendor and third-party interfacing skills.
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural group environment.
Desirable Knowledge:
- Systems knowledge in Installation Analyses, Naval Architecture, and Umbilical System Design.
- Previous offshore experience is an advantage.
