Senior ESG Analyst - Initial 9 month contract


Location: London/Hybrid

Contract: 9 months (potential to extend)


About the Role


We are seeking a Senior ESG Analyst to join a dynamic and globally operating organisation within the natural resources sector. This role sits within the ESG function and plays a key part in delivering high-quality sustainability reporting, data analytics, and regulatory compliance across international operations.


You will support the development, integrity, and transparency of ESG data and disclosures, helping the organisation respond to a rapidly evolving sustainability and regulatory landscape.


Key Responsibilities:


ESG Strategy & Compliance

  • Monitor global ESG trends, frameworks, and regulatory developments (e.g. ISSB, CSRD, TCFD, GRI, SASB, TNFD)
  • Identify and interpret sustainability reporting obligations across jurisdictions
  • Support ESG benchmarking against industry peers and best practices
  • Contribute to improving ESG data processes and automation initiatives


ESG Reporting & Data Management

  • Support delivery of ESG reporting aligned to leading frameworks and standards
  • Conduct gap analyses and support implementation of reporting improvements
  • Assist with compliance programmes, including emerging EU regulations (e.g. CSRD, EU Taxonomy)
  • Manage collection, validation, and analysis of ESG data across global operations
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure data accuracy and audit readiness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate ESG into business processes


Systems & Process Improvement

  • Enhance ESG reporting systems and tools (e.g. Workiva, Power BI, HFM, Workday)
  • Drive efficiency and continuous improvement in reporting workflows


Stakeholder Reporting & Communication

  • Support ESG reporting to internal and external stakeholders (Board, investors, regulators)
  • Contribute to sustainability disclosures (e.g. CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics, S&P CSA)
  • Prepare ESG content for presentations, reporting, and communications


Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in financial or ESG reporting (industry or professional services)
  • Strong understanding of reporting processes, controls, and governance
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks and sustainability standards
  • Advanced data analysis skills (Excel; experience with Power BI or similar tools)
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations


Desirable

  • Experience in mining, natural resources, or international environments
  • Familiarity with ESG assurance or audit processes
  • Sustainability certifications (e.g. GRI, SASB) or accounting qualification (e.g. CPA)


Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Environmental Science, Data Science, or related field
