Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a leading engineering and construction organisation to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor for its Sellafield site in Cumbria. This role will be based out of their offices in Workington supporting the site day to day.

Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Environmental Advisor role
Reporting to the Environmental Manager you will:
Provide expert environmental advice across all project phases, including design, construction, and commissioning. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and site-specific requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), risk assessments, and method statements. Identify environmental risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation and improvement strategies. Lead and support environmental audits, inspections, and assurance activities. Monitor environmental performance and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders. Liaise with regulators, clients, and key stakeholders on environmental matters. Promote a strong environmental culture, delivering training and awareness initiatives across the programme. Support sustainability objectives, including waste reduction, resource efficiency, and carbon management. Ensure alignment with ISO 14001 standards and Sellafield's environmental requirements.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA) Proven experience in a similar environmental advisory role within major infrastructure, construction, or nuclear sectors. Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks. Experience working within highly regulated environments; nuclear experience is desirable. Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to influence and drive environmental performance across multidisciplinary teams.
