Contract:Permanent
Location:Crawley (with nationwide travel)
Salary:£50,000 per annum

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Surveyor to join their team based in Crawley. This is a senior-level position combining hands-on surveying with leadership responsibility, delivering technically complex surveying solutions across major infrastructure and construction projects.

You will play a key role in leading survey operations on site, mentoring junior surveyors, and supporting the continued development of the clients geospatial capabilities. This role is well suited to a driven professional with strong technical expertise and proven experience managing teams in demanding construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering surveying activities across construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring precision, quality, and compliance
  • Manage and support site survey teams, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance
  • Deliver setting-out, monitoring, and as-built surveys using advanced surveying equipment and digital workflows
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure effective integration of geospatial data
  • Utilise post-processing software including AutoCAD and N4CE
  • Ensure all site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Contribute technical expertise to bids, tenders, and client engagement where required
  • Drive innovation through the adoption of new technologies and best practices
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications with accuracy
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and deliver results under tight deadlines

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a site engineering surveyor within the construction industry
  • Strong expertise in setting out works and delivering engineering surveys
  • Proficiency with total stations, GNSS, laser scanning, and digital survey technologies
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
  • Demonstrable leadership and mentoring experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and work effectively under pressure
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Willingness to travel nationwide as required

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in surveying, civil engineering, or geospatial disciplines
  • Professional accreditation (RICS, CICES, or equivalent)
  • Experience using Leica survey equipment
  • Knowledge of point cloud data processing and BIM workflows
  • CSCS Card
