What you’ll be doingYou’ll lead the design, implementation and testing of EGIS software solutions, applying software engineering expertise to deliver robust and secure capability. You’ll guide, mentor and support Software Engineers throughout the software lifecycle, helping the team build capability and navigate complex challenges. You’ll contribute to planning, estimation and reporting, working with the management team to build realistic schedules and communicate progress clearly.
You’ll meet the EGIS customers and end users, as required, to enable development of the EGIS Programmes and the continued evolution of the EGIS products as required. You’ll drive performance improvements through capturing, analysing and acting on system measurements.
Core duties
Significant experience working in a Software Engineering Environment
Team leading experience – managing work and reporting on costs
Background in software product development and/or delivery, preferably in a large, complex multi‑project environment
Experience developing software within the Engineering Lifecycle
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and should be recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
Engineers are encouraged and will be supported to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.
The EGIS TeamThis is an opportunity to join a collaborative team working on the Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) System, managing the manual input and automatic collection and measurement of environmental parameters from environmental sensors.
You will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the METOC system to the Type 26 Batch 2 and Hunter (Australia) programmes, based from the Dorchester office.
