Senior Employment Solicitor – Top Tier Leading Legal 500 Firm

Location: Manchester or Liverpool

Salary: up to £70,000 dependent on experience


The Opportunity

A leading national law practice is seeking a highly experienced employment solicitor to join its Employment, Pensions & Immigration (EPI) team to work primarily with health care sector clients. This senior position offers the chance to lead complex employment law, manage high-value client relationships, and play a key role in mentoring junior lawyers.


This role offers the chance to advise a portfolio of high-profile organisations across the UK, including some of the country’s largest and most respected employers. The calibre of clients and the strength of long-standing relationships reflect the exceptional quality of service delivered by the team.


The successful candidate will join the Manchester office, currently comprising three Partners, two Principal Associates, one Associate and a Trainee. Recognised in the leading legal directories, the team has strong ambitions for further growth and offers excellent prospects for career development.


The Role

The successful candidate will manage a broad range of employment matters, including unfair dismissal, grievances, discrimination, industrial relations, tribunal litigation, and equal pay. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic legal advice to clients on contentious and non-contentious employment issues.
  • Leading and supervising junior fee-earners.
  • Preparing tribunal bundles, witness statements, and other legal documents.
  • Delivering training, writing thought-leadership content, and contributing to business development.
  • Meeting client service levels, managing reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with deadlines.


The Candidate

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience in employment law.
  • Strong technical expertise and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership, communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advocacy experience and tribunal litigation skills are highly desirable.
  • Sector-specific experience in healthcare is advantageous but not essential.
