CONTRACT TYPE: 1 x 12 month Fixed Term contract/attachment Full-time
DEPARTMENT: HR Service Centre
LOCATION: Home based with regular weekly travel to BBC bases
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,000 - £39,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role will be mapped on BBC Career Path Framework as Senior HR Advisor.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the BBC's Manager Advice team as a Senior Employee Relations Advisor, where you'll provide expert guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters. You'll play a key role in resolving complex cases and shaping positive outcomes across the organisation, helping ensure fair, consistent, and legally sound HR practices.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Provide expert advice to BBC managers, including senior leaders, on a wide range of employee relations issues.
  • Manage complex casework independently and collaboratively, including cases up to and including dismissal.
  • Deliver training and presentations to managers and colleagues on HR policies and employment matters.
  • Maintain accurate case records using internal systems to ensure a full audit trail.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the BBC to support timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Travel regularly to BBC sites across the UK for meetings and casework support.
  • Support the development of colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Excellent, up-to-date knowledge of UK Employment Law, including Northern Ireland.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a large and varied caseload, including complex cases up to and including dismissal.
  • Experience delivering presentations and training on HR policies and employment-related topics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders remotely and in person.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using databases or case management systems, with a focus on accurate record-keeping and audit trails.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including covering colleagues' cases and supporting their development.
  • Empathy, pragmatism and creativity in resolving sensitive issues within policy, law and precedent.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Fluency in written and oral Welsh is desirable but not essential.
