Senior Electrical Engineer

New Today

Projects Scope
Booth Welsh are seeking a highly skilled HV Electrical Consultant Engineer to support two new projects.
To support the safe and sustained decommissioning of a Nuclear Power Station following Fuel Free Verification (FFV), this project will deliver a new dual high voltage (HV) electrical supply system.
The system will replace the existing grid interface and ensure reliable, resilient power for all critical site operations during the decommissioning phase.
The projects encompass the design, installation, and commissioning of a new Decommissioning Incoming Electrical Supply and a Decommissioning Electrical Distribution System. These systems will provide secure and maintainable electrical infrastructure tailored to the evolving needs of the site as it transitions through decommissioning.
Key elements include:
Establishment of a new 11 kV connection to the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO).
Deployment of an 11kV electrical system with modular containerised substations.
Integration of retained Station Auxiliary Transformers (SATs) to support essential 3.3 kV loads.
Incremental switchover from legacy systems to new infrastructure to minimise operational disruption. Objectives:
Ensure continuity of electrical supply for decommissioning activities.
Improve system reliability, maintainability, and operational flexibility.
Reduce dependency on transmission-level assets and legacy infrastructure.
Align with EDF’s design integrity and modification control processes.Estimated timescales:
Estimated duration for both projects is 5 years.
About the Role
This site-based position requires a comprehensive and demonstrable understanding the clients Design Integrity and Engineering Modification processes, ensuring that all design activities are executed in accordance with established governance, safety, and regulatory frameworks. The role also necessitates substantial hands-on experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of high-voltage (HV) electrical distribution systems, with a strong emphasis on system reliability, maintainability, and compliance with nuclear site standards.
The work would require someone to be on site 50% of the time - We can work out a pattern to suit everyone.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with EDF’s Maintain Design Integrity (MDI) and Modification Process frameworks.
Support and uphold the Design Control Process, ensuring all designs meet regulatory and operational standards.
