Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n Location: Wolverhampton (Hybrid Working)\n Salary: Up to £60,000 + Package\n Hours: 37 per week (flexible bands and core hours)\n\nSenior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nJoin a leading UK engineering organisation near Wolverhampton with over 60 years of experience delivering high‑integrity, safety‑critical systems for regulated‑sector projects. The company designs and manufactures complex EC&I and mechanical systems in‑house, supporting full lifecycle delivery from concept to commissioning across advanced engineering programmes. Projects include large‑scale machinery, process systems, automation solutions and safety‑critical instrumentation for major Energy, Research and Defence Infrastructure facilities.\n\nAbout the Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role\n\nThe Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead electrical design work packages and manage a team of engineers delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through to handover.

The role covers full lifecycle design, integration, testing and commissioning for high‑integrity systems in regulated environments.\n\nKey Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nInterpret design requirements and translate them into fit‑for‑purpose engineering solutions\nDeliver design work packages within agreed time, cost and quality constraints\nManage day‑to‑day activities of the electrical design team\nSupervise, verify and produce design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules and calculations\nProduce control panel designs including GAs, detailed drawings, schematics, interlock diagrams, PLC/HMI hardware, motor starters, drives, safety circuits, instrumentation and power distribution\nCoordinate with mechanical, EC&I and software disciplines\nLiaise with manufacturing, testing and commissioning teams to support build and delivery\nEnsure compliance with UK legislation, British/European standards and industry best practice\nParticipate in HAZOPs, design reviews and technical risk assessments\nManage design change control, technical queries and contract variations\nProduce technical documentation including FDS, software documentation, technical files, O&M manuals, spares lists and test documentation \n\nCandidate Profile\n\nHNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)\nExtensive electrical design engineering experience\nDemonstrable experience leading or managing design teams\nProficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office\nKnowledge of British/European standards; IEC 61508 advantageous\nEligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)\nCommitment to ongoing professional development (Chartership support provided) \n\nSalary and Benefits\n\nUp to £60,000 starting salary\nHybrid and flexible working\nPension: 5% employer / 5% employee + 3× salary Death in Service\n25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 days\nAbility to accrue up to 5 additional days for authorised extra hours\nProfessional membership fees paid \n\nCommutable From\n\nWolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Stafford and surrounding areas.\n\nWhy Join\n\nYou will join a business committed to engineering excellence and continual investment in its people.
