Job Description
A little more about your role…\n\nMeeting the requirements of a 'Senior Engineer' grade and have a proven track record in both leading projects for your discipline and for an overall project team. Be able to demonstrate where your personal input has led to the commission being won or successfully delivered\n\t\nAble to work using initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role\n\t\nAble to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs\n\t\nWork in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a project manager capacity on a wide range of projects\n\t\nSupervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function\n\t\nConsider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project\n\t\nTake responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue\n\t\nRegularly brief the project team, including explaining the appointment\n\t\nReviewing design programmes and ensuring that sufficient resource is available to complete the works\n\nYour Team\n\nOur team is comprised of 35 engineers working across the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health specialisms\n\t\nOur team is based in the Cambridge office\n\t\nAs part of our team, you would be working on some of our major projects including Gatwick and Heathrow Airports, Royal Berkshire Hospital and several public and private sector client sites.\n\t\nYou will be reporting to our Technical Director for Mechanical engineering.\n\t\nYou will be able to utilise graduate, assistant, senior and principal engineers in supporting roles around you, as well as dedicated BIM and Sustainability specialists to contribute to your projects.\n\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\n\nWorking towards Chartership via an Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience.\n\t\nDegree in Building services Engineering or applicable discipline. Or relevant equivalent experience.\n\t\nWorking towards IET Engineer or Chartered Building Services Engineer.\n\nKey Technical Requirements\n\nHave a detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.\n\t\nHave working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.\n\t\nHave an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively\n\t\nHave the ability to engage with clients and contractors in technical discussions and debates.\n\t\nHave understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.\n\nMust be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)\n\nElectrical Design Skills:\n\nLow voltage distribution systems\n\t\nLow voltage standby \n\t\nUPS systems\n\t\nCable calculations (via software and by hand)\n\t\nLighting calculations (via software and by hand)\n\t\nSmall power\n\t\nFire alarms\n\t\nIntruder detection\n\t\nAccess control & security systems\n\t\nDisabled call systems\n\t\nData cabling and outlets\n\t\nLightning protection
