Senior DevOps Systems Administrator

£60,000 £65,000 DOE | Hybrid Working (1x day a month office)

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, senior-level DevOps role with real autonomy. Youll be responsible for designing, improving, and supporting cloud and on-prem infrastructure, while driving automation and best practice across the environment.

Youll work closely with technical and non-technical teams, acting as a subject-matter expert, mentoring others, and helping the business scale securely and efficiently. The organisation actively supports professional development, including training and certifications, and offers clear long-term progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and private cloud platforms
• Lead infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions to improve visibility and performance
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance system reliability, resilience, and security
• Manage hybrid networking, IAM, firewalls, and VPNs
• Participate in an on-call rota and support incident response when required
• Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to operational best practice

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

• 5+ years experience in a DevOps or cloud infrastructure role
• Strong hands-on AWS experience
• Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Proxmox
• Solid Linux administration skills
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible)
• Containerisation and orchestration experience (e.g. Kubernetes / EKS)
• Scripting ability in Bash, Python, or Go
• Good understanding of networking and cloud security concepts

Desirable:

• AWS certifications
• Experience with container or infrastructure security tools (e.g. Trivy)
