The  Design and Estimation Manager  will lead and manage a skilled team of designers to produce accurate, high-quality design and estimation outputs at both the pre-sales and post-sales stages of the project lifecycle.
This role is primarily focused on supporting strategic accounts in the Hyperscale Data Centre market across the EMEA and APAC regions. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales, commercial, and operations teams to oversee the preparation of technical cost submissions, coordinate updates and revisions, and oversee all post-sales deliverables; including construction drawings, variation responses, and site surveys. A key focus of the role is to optimise revenues, margins, and win rates. This will be achieved through strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring that all design and cost outputs align with stakeholders expectations while supporting the company’s strategic and commercial objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leading design and estimation functions within the ICT sector, ideally with experience in the Hyperscale DC market. This role requires a hands-on leadership style, with the ability to manage daily operational demands while staying focused on strategic priorities and timelines. Strong leadership, combined with excellent communication and influencing skills, will enable the candidate to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders across all stages of the project lifecycle.
What you will be doing as the Design and Estimation Manager:
\n Lead and manage your team, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of tender submissions and design development through a hands-on approach.
\n
Work with senior Sales Directors, including Head of Data Centre to establish pricing and sales strategies for global strategic accounts.
\n
Prepare and deliver regular internal reports, including monthly management updates, project progress summaries, and performance metrics, ensuring visibility of risks, opportunities, and resource requirements to senior leadership.
\n
Actively contribute to pre-sales activity by preparing quotations and conducting technical and commercial assessments to support the sales team in evaluating project viability, risks, and opportunities.
\n
Review and validate tender cost proposals and Bills of Materials (BoMs), ensuring alignment with internal policies and project stakeholder sign-off.
\n
Oversee the production of accurate pre-contract information and manage Pre-Contract Review (PCR) processes to mitigate risks.
\n
Coordinate closely with the Sales, Business Managers, and Project Managers to provide technical support, cost guidance, and identify value engineering opportunities.
\n
Ensure detailed design outputs, such as general arrangement plans, cabinet layouts, density drawings, and schematics; are completed to industry and stakeholders standards.
\n
Liaise effectively with stakeholderss, main contractors, consultants, and internal teams, representing the company in formal design meetings and stakeholders presentations.
\n
Support post-sales project phases by coordinating design changes, managing variations, and ensuring change control compliance within commercial and contractual frameworks.
\n
Manage project documentation and communication across the full project lifecycle, including post-project reviews, lessons learnt feedback loops, and monthly reports to leadership.
\n
Maintain industry awareness by gathering and sharing relevant technical standards and ensuring alignment with evolving data centre and SCS requirements
\n
What we are looking for in our Design and Estimation Manager:
\n Essential
\n
Extensive experience of Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling, ICT
\n
Extensive   experience in designing structure cabling solutions.
\n
Extensive experience of delivery Hyperscale Data Centre projects
\n
Ability to produce and deliver stakeholders presentations in a clear, concise and confident manner
\n
Ability to absorb and manage new services and applications
\n
Experience and temperament to deal with multiple priorities
\n
Proven ability to develop detailed designs packages
\n
\n but not Essential
\n
Qualifications – RCDD, CNIDP or CDCP
\n
Accredited manufacturer training   \n
\n
